Explore Gower on horseback

Whether a beginner or an experienced rider, the thrill of mounting up and heading off onto Gower’s glorious heritage coastline will stay with you forever. Ride along the miles of sandy beaches, magnificent limestone cliffs, salt and freshwater marshes and breathe the fresh air whilst experiencing a welcome freedom from your busy lifestyle.

Parc-Le-Breos is a family run guest house and trekking centre Established by John and Olive Edwards back in 1963. We have horses and ponies to suit all ages and abilities; if you've never ridden before you really couldn't choose a better place to have a go. All of the rides are run by our award winning friendly guides who have an unrivalled knowledge of the best trails, the local conditions and off course the temperaments of their horses. The pace is walking and trotting with arranged canters for the more experienced.

The Riding
The day begins at 10 a.m. when when one of our well mannered ponies is matched to your ability. There follows a period of hands-on bonding as everyone helps to groom and tack up. After a thorough but informal instruction the ride moves off at around 11:30 stopping for lunch at beaches, picturesque villages or country pubs where you can enjoy good food and be sure that your four-legged friend is munching contentedly nearby.

Book a half day, day, weekend or week; you can organise your own groups, whether with like minded friends or a social outing from work. Don’t be deterred if you are an individual rider, many people have enjoyed our riding experience and met new friends along the way – don’t be shy. Everyone is welcome from age 10 years upwards and for the younger children there are always paddock rides for them to look forward to.

The Horses
Our horses and ponies range from 12hh to 15.2hh. They all live out as an established herd and this is what makes them happy, relaxed and a pleasure to handle and ride. They will all take care of the most nervous of riders whilst always being ready for a gallop when asked.

Essential Equipment
Comfort and safety are paramount. Riding hats are essential and are loaned free of charge. Unless you have your own riding equipment the following guide will be of some help. We recommend boots or shoes with a small heel and non-ribbed sole, sports style trousers (not jeans). Be prepared for sunshine, rain, wind, fog, snow, hail. We ride whatever the weather, as long as it is safe to do so.

Training & Courses
Why not get qualified while you stay - We offer a range of short horsemanship courses that can be completed over a stay of one week or more.

We are also a British Equine Tourism (BET) examination centre (please see the BHS website for exam dates. We also offer NVQ's level one and two in Stable management and Horse Care.
