About Gower
The people who are drawn to Gower come back again and again; famous for its beauty, myths and legends, the area’s breath-taking natural scenery and abundant wild life make it a haven for walkers, photographers and nature lovers.

Only 18 miles long the undulating arm of the Gower peninsular is packed full of some of the most diverse scenery imaginable in a nut shell this is what won Gower its area of outstanding natural beauty status over 50 years ago. It is this which makes it one of the most favoured spots in Wales for the independently-minded traveller.

Bounded on three sides by the sea, it combines in its landscape the ruggedness of high sea cliffs and rocky outcrops with the soft shapes of hills and sandy coves, while on its north coast you will find the extensive sheltered salt water marshes and famous cockle beds of Penclawdd.

There is a depth in the appeal of the landscape which goes beyond the contemplation of beautiful scenery, the countryside is dotted with the historical remains and artefacts of past centuries. The evidence of generations the people who lived and worked here their industries as diverse as agriculture and coal mining shaping the landscape to that, which we see today.
